From the looks of this list, odds are next year’s No. 1 overall pick will follow a familiar trend. In each of the last four years, a quarterback has been selected first overall.
Topping the list is Oklahoma star QB Spencer Rattler. Through his first year as a full-time starter in 2020, the Sooner star logged 3,031 yards, 28 touchdowns and seven interceptions on a 67.5 completion percentage. As the most highly-touted quarterback prospect in college football right now, NFL scouts are no doubt thrilled to see what he can do at the next level.
Close behind Rattler is fellow junior quarterback Sam Howell of North Carolina, whose record-setting performances through his first two seasons in Chapel Hill have endeared himself to football analysts across the nation. Malik Willis of Liberty (transfer from Auburn), Kedon Slovis of USC, Tyler Shough of Oregon, J.T. Daniels of Georgia (transfer from USC) and Desmond Ridder of Cincinnati round out the long list of favorites at the QB position.
The first defensive player on the list, Kayvon Thibodeaux, comes in with the third best odds. Through two seasons at Oregon, the 6-foot-5, 250 lbs defensive end has logged 23.5 sacks. If the Ducks standout were to be selected with the No. 1 overall pick, he would be the first defensive end with that honor since Myles Garrett in 2017.
LSU’s Derek Stingley Jr. and Ohio State’s Sevyn Banks make up the other defensive players on the list at the cornerback position.
There are no non-QB skill position players on this most recent odds list.
