Another year, another rough start for the Florida State football program.
The Seminoles appeared to be on the right track in Week 1. Florida State nearly pulled off a big-time upset at home over Notre Dame. While Mike Norvell’s program couldn’t pull off the win, everyone was pretty encouraged.
“Tell ya what regardless of how this game ends … FSU has come LIGHT YEARS from where they’ve been last couple years,” Kirk Herbstreit tweeted on Sunday night. “This team is fighting and playing as a team. And a lot more difference makers on both sides of the ball. Not to mention 13 (quarterback Jordan Travis) has improved in all phases under center.”
Well, things didn’t go better in Week 2. Florida State was upset in shocking fashion by Jacksonville State on a last-second Hail Mary!
Norvell is now 3-8 as Florida State’s head coach. If the Seminoles pull the plug on him soon, there’s already one head coach getting mentioned for the job.
Deion Sanders.
The former NFL star played collegiately at Florida State. He’s currently the head coach at Jackson State in Mississippi.
Unsurprisingly, Sanders’ name was trending on social media this morning.
At this rate, we really might see Deion Sanders as the FSU head coach

Norvell clearly needs to turn things around – and fast.
Florida State is set to play at Wake Forest next weekend.
