One of the Nationals top prospects is now out of commission with an injury
Jarlin Susana is one of the most electric arms in the Minor Leagues. He sits around 100 MPH and has a nasty slider to go with it. The youngster was the final piece of the Juan Soto trade back in 2022. However, he is now out with an injury.
Jarlin Susana was placed on the 7-day injured list at Double-A Harrisburg.

Susana has had an interesting season so far. He has not been bad with a 4.15 ERA with 38 strikeouts in 26 innings. However, he has been walking too many guys, with 20 free passes issued in that time.
Susana had a strong start to the season before struggling his last couple outings. That makes me wonder how long he has been dealing with this injury. It is tougher to find specifics on Minor League injuries, but hopefully this is not too serious for the big right hander.
With his electric fastball, you always worry a bit about the arm. As information becomes more available, we will keep you up to date on the latest.
The Nationals other top pitching prospect Travis Sykora is just coming back from his offseason hip surgery and he has been dominant in his rehab starts. It sucks to see that just as one big name comes back, another goes down. Hopefully this isn’t too serious for Susana and we can see him and his 100 MPH heaters soon.
UPDATE:
According to Davey Martinez, Susana’s injury is arm related. However, he would not go into more specifics.
The injury has to do with Susana’s arm, per Davey Martinez. But he didn’t have exact details yet. Maybe after today’s game. https://t.co/FPrygPoN2P
