The Lucas Sims experiment is finally over after another awful outing
After giving up three runs while walking four and hitting a batter, Lucas Sims was released, concluding a rotten spell with the club.
The Nationals have requested unconditional release waivers on Lucas Sims.

On the rare occasions he found the zone, Sims had good stuff. His sweeper has a ton of bite and his fastball has some late life. However, he had no clue where the ball was going. He walked 14 batters and hit a league leading seven batters in 12.1 innings.
It was an unfortunate tenure for Sims that was reminiscent of the Trevor Rosenthal experience back in 2019. The Nats brought Sims in for $3 million and clearly wanted to make it work. They stuck by him while he struggled heavily.
However, with his ERA up to 13.86, Mike Rizzo had no choice. The situation had become toxic with the usually forgiving Nationals fans booing Sims off the mound. It was not a fun time for anybody involved.
There is no ill will towards Sims, hopefully he can revitalize his big league career somewhere else. However, his time in DC was ugly to say the least.
