Now that the draft has finally wrapped up, we can turn our attention to the Home Run Derby. Nationals star and 2021 second round pick James Wood is competing in the derby. He is part of a stacked field that will be taking center stage at Truist Park.

While Ronald Acuna Jr. pulled out for his teammate Matt Olson, this is still an awesome field. There is so much big time power on display. Guys like Oneil Cruz and Junior Caminero might not be megastars yet, but they have jaw dropping power. All of these guys can put on an absolute show.
Cal Raleigh has an insane 38 homers at the break and he leads the field along with Wood. Brent Rooker is another guy to watch. The A’s DH has been one of the more underrated power threats in the game over the last few years.
However, I think James has what it takes to get it done. His batting practice preparations have shown off the insane power he has. We see it in games all the time, but seeing him do it on the field in batting practice is just mesmerizing stuff.
