The Nationals look to avoid the sweep as the Red Sox call on their ace to finish the job
The pitching matchup of Shinnosuke Ogasawara vs Garrett Crochet is a David vs Goliath type deal on paper. Crochet is the Red Sox ace and a Cy Young contender. Meanwhile, Ogasawara is making his MLB debut. After back to back ugly losses, the Nationals are also looking to avoid a sweep here.
It will be an interesting lineup for Davey Martinez. Star shortstop CJ Abrams will be out of the lineup against Crochet, an elite left hander. Instead Paul DeJong will get the start at shortstop. Alex Call and Amed Rosario will also get starts against the left handed ace. Riley Adams will get the start behind the plate as he looks to guide his debuting pitcher.

The Red Sox will roll out a very similar lineup to the one that dominated yesterday. There are a lot of lefty mashers in this lineup like Rob Refsnyder and Romy Gonzalez. Nate Eaton will be in the leadoff spot again. The only change is behind the plate where Connor Wong will give starter Carlos Narvaez a breather. Ace Garrett Crochet will take the mound.

After a great series against the Tigers, the Nats lost all momentum with two awful performances against the Red Sox. Now they have to face Boston’s ace. On paper, this matchup favors the Red Sox, but of course the games are not played on paper. Follow along down below and let’s go Nationals!
