The Washington Nationals (12-14) are taking on their NL East Rival New York Mets (18-8)
Coming off of back-to-back series wins, Washington has performed well as of late. Another stellar performance from Jake Irvin on Friday prevailed Washington to another close victory. Washington has won five of their last seven and looks to add to their momentum against one of the best teams in the MLB.
Let’s take a look at both teams heading into this anticipated matchup.
RHP Brad Lord has struggled this season, posting a 4.73 ERA. Lord has struggled with his command, having only one more strikeout than walks. And against a lefty-dominated lineup, Lord could have a rough outing.

Long-time Yankees reliever Clay Holmes has transitioned to a full-time starter and has pitched well early in the season. Holmes is posting a 3.16 ERA with 34 strikeouts and has been a key part of New York’s rotation.

The New York Mets are one of the best teams in baseball, so winning this series is a tall task for Washington. However, C.J. Abrams coming back can spark this offense and help Washington’s offense keep up with New York’s star-studded lineup.
