2/28: Orioles Top Twins In Fort Myers

February 29, 2024 by Orioles Hangout

The Baltimore Orioles travelled south on Tuesday to face the Minnesota Twins and left the Lee Health Sports Complex with a 12-3 win. Starter Dean Kremer (1-0) was credited with the win for a mixed bag 2.0 inning performance; two hits, a walk and a sac fly produced Minnesota’s first run. Kremer stranded two runners in the first inning and then retired the side in the second. Kremer’s line was 2.0 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 2 K).

Bryan Baker followed and struggled, allowing 1 hit, walking 1, striking out 2 and hitting a batter in two-thirds of an inning. Jonathan Heasley (1.1 IP, 1 BB) and Albert Suarez (2.0 IP, 2 K) restored order to the game. Wandisson Charles walked 1 and struck out 1 in the eighth inning. The Twins touched Luis Gonzalez (1.0 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 1 HR, 1 K) and Ryan Watson (1.0 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 1 K) for a run each.

A second inning homerun off the bat of Ramon Urias (2 for 3, HR, 2 R, 3 RBI) gave the Orioles the lead, a lead they never relinquished. The Orioles plated five runs in the third inning which was capped off by a Colton Cowser (2 for 3, HR, 1 R, 3 RBI) three-run blast.

Michael Perez (2 for 3, 2 RBI) and Coby Mayo (1 for 3, 2B, 1 RBI) were front and center in the three-run seventh inning.

Errol Robinson remains hot, going 1 for 2 with a run scored.

Cedric Mullins went 2 for 3 with 1 run scored and a stolen base, Austin Hays went 1 for 3 with a double, 1 run scored and 1 RBI, Jordan Westburg went 1 for 3 with 1 run scored and 1 RBI and Daniel Johnson went 1 for 2 with a double and 1 RBI.

Non-roster invitees Maverick Handley and Frederick Bencosme both went 1 for 2 with a run scored.
