The Baltimore Orioles celebrated the 30th Anniversary of Oriole Park at Camden Yards the same way the team did when it opened; with a 2-0 victory. Thirty years ago it was a 2-0 victory over the Cleveland Guardians (the then Indians) yesterday it was a 2-0 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers.
Cedric Mullins (1 for 5, 2 RBI) hit a two-run single in the second inning to account for all the scoring in the game.
Anthony Santander went 2 for 2 with a double and 2 walks.
Jorge Mateo went 1 for 3 with 1 run scored, 1 walk and a stolen base.
Maryland native, Bruce Zimmermann, made the start and set the pace for the pitching staff. The southpaw allowed 3 hits, walked 2 and struck out 4 over 4.0 innings. Mike Baumann (1-0) relieved Zimmermann and was awarded the win for his 1 hit, 1 walk and 3 strikeout effort over 2.1 innings.
Dillon Tate (0.2 IP, 1 H), Cionel Perez (1.0 IP, 1 H, 1 K) and Jorge Lopez (1.0 IP, 1 BB, 1 K) combined to finish what Zimmermann started.
A crowd of 44,461 witnessed the Orioles first win of 2022.
