Friday night in Houston was a reunion of sorts for the Baltimore Orioles. It was the first time the team would see Trey Mancini in person after his trade to the Astros on August 2nd. On the field before the game there were smiles and hugs and by the time the game was over those smiles and hugs were in the Orioles dugout. Baltimore won the contest 2-0.
Kyle Bradish (2-5) took the mound as the starting pitcher and needed 96 pitches to navigate 8.0 innings of work. Bradish allowed just 2 hits, walked 2 and struck out 6 in securing the victory. He did hit one batter, however.
Cionel Perez relieved Bradish and allowed 2 hits in 0.2 inning. Dillon Tate then entered the game, tasked with securing the final out. As if it was scripted, Tate was facing Mancini with 2 men on and the game on the line. Mancini struck out swinging on three pitches, the final strike coming on an 80 MPH slider, giving Tate his 3rd save of the season.
Zeroes were on the scoreboard until the sixth inning when Ramon Urias (2 for 4, 1 run scored, 2 RBI) hit a two-run homerun that traveled 389 feet into left field.
Kyle Stowers went 2 for 3 with a run scored and a walk.
Rougned Odor went 1 for 3 with a double and a walk.
2022 Record: 66-59, 2.5 GB the third Wild Card spot
