Question: Do you have any ideas on who the team is considering to be its next permanent manager? When Buck Showalter took over there was an immediate uptick in the team’s performance. I think Mike Elias should bring Buck Showalter back for a second run here. I think he can lead this team to a championship. Do you think Buck would be interested? From: Mike Beale
Answer: Mike, not only you, but David Lorenzo asks about the possibility of Buck Showalter returning. Timothy Fowler wonders whether Matt Holliday would be interested in managing the Orioles.
I would be extremely surprised if Buck Showalter returned as manager of the Orioles next season. I don’t know who Mike Elias will consider. There’s plenty of time to think about names after the season.
As for Matt Holliday, I would be just as surprised if he managed the Orioles in 2026. I think he’s eager to watch his two sons play professionally, and he has two other young children still at home.
Question: Which of the traded players do you think will return to the O’s next year? From: Richard Thorpe
Answer: Richard, I would be surprised if any of the players recently traded returned to the Orioles. The best chance for a return is probably Cedric Mullins, and that’s only if his market is a weak one.
I would love if Ryan O’Hearn came back, and I think he’d be interested, but I think he’ll have his choice of teams.
