Question: As I watch the postseason, I see most teams have a good balance of young kids and seasoned veterans. I think it was Jordan Westburg who mentioned the team needed that. I agree, don’t you? From: Sandra Freund
Answer: Sandra, I think the Orioles could use an infusion of accomplished veterans, perhaps two or three. Having James McCann in 2023 and 2024 helped the Orioles but, unfortunately, they didn’t re-sign him for 2025.
Danny Coulombe was a good relief pitcher who helped in the clubhouse in 2023 and 2024, too. Ryan O’Hearn was great for clubhouse morale, too, but he was traded in July.
I hope they’ll sign a few veterans to shore up the clubhouse.
Question: Do you think that the Orioles will be looking to replace the entire coaching staff? I would like to see them keep the pitching coaches as they were able to get a fairly significant contribution from several who were not counted on. From: Jonathan Bacher
Answer: Jody, I would guess the Orioles retain a few coaches no matter who the manager is, but I think there will be significant turnover.
It’s certainly possible that Drew French would be back as pitching coach, and perhaps Buck Britton, Robinson Chirinos and John Mabry probably have the best chance of sticking around for the next administration.
