CHICAGO—Orioles executive vice president/general manager Mike Elias said he would like to see the top prospect in the organization, catcher/first baseman Samuel Basallo, and outfielder Dylan Beavers make their debut in 2025.
“I hope so,” Elias said in a video conference call on Friday morning. “They’re both having terrific seasons. They’ve both been bright spots in the organization in a tough year.”
The 20-year-old Basallo is MLB Pipeline’s ninth-ranked prospect, and the 23-year-old Beavers is the third-ranked Orioles prospect, according to Pipeline, trailing Basallo and outfielder Enrique Bradfield Jr.
Basallo is batting .273 with a .984 OPS, 20 home runs and 51 RBIs for Triple-A Norfolk. Beavers is hitting .304 with a .916 OPS, 14 home runs and 42 RBIs.
“I do think getting them a taste in 2025 would be a good thing for all parties,” Elias said.
