The Fells Point property that was once home to Bertha’s Mussels is up for auction again after its initial sale was cancelled in 2022.
Alex Cooper Auctioneers is handling the sale of the former Bertha’s property at 730 & 734 S. Broadway Street and has listed its initial deposit price at $75,000. The auction will take place at Baltimore City Circuit Court on May 29.
The same firm oversaw the property’s auction in 2022, in which bids climbed to over $1.3 million, before it was terminated after the owners entered into negotiations with a potential buyer that ultimately fell through.
Bertha’s Mussels closed its doors in October 2023 after more than 51 years of serving its titular dish to Fells Point visitors and locals alike. It was known throughout the world for the big green stickers customers displayed proudly on their bumpers, reading: “EAT BERTHA’S MUSSELS.”
