The Baltimore Orioles dropped their 4th of July game in New York 8-4 on Tuesday. In a reversal of Monday’s game, the Yankees entered the fifth inning leading 3-0 only to see the Orioles answer with 3 runs of their own. The Yankees regained the lead by scoring a run of their own in the bottom of the fifth and never looked back.
A definite highlight of the game was Aaron Hicks (1 for 3, 1 HR, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB) fifth inning homerun. The Yankees fans were vociferous in their booing of Hicks and one fan threw the homerun ball back onto the field with gusto.

Jordan Westburg (2 for 4, 1 2B, 2 R) followed the Hicks homer with a double and Adam Frazier (1 for 2, 1 HR, 1 R, 2 RBI) hit his 10th homerun of the season to score Westburg and tie the game temporarily. Westburg also scored in the top of the ninth on a James McCann (0 for 4, 1 RBI) fielder’s choice groundout.

Ramon Urias went 1 for 2 with a double.
Ryan O’Hearn went 1 for 4 with a double.
Adley Rutschman and Gunnar Henderson each went 1 for 5.
The Yankees strikeout whistle became quite annoying with 10 of the 27 Orioles outs coming via the strike out.
Kyle Gibson (8-6) took the loss by allowing 4 runs on 3 hits (1 HR) with 4 walks, 4 strikeouts and a hit batter over 6.0 innings.
Nick Vespi allowed 3 runs on 2 hits (1 HR), walked 1 and struck out 2 in 0.2 inning. Bruce Zimmermann (1.0 IP, 1 R, 1 H, 1 K) also surrendered a run.
