The family of Dawn White, a 53-year-old woman whose body was discovered in a safe in the basement of her home, is taking on the role of investigators as they attempt to piece together the timeline of her last movements.
Baltimore police labeled her death as suspicious, but the family harbors suspicions of their own.
“We gotta figure it out. Police ain’t gonna do it,” White’s older sister Kimberly Bache said.
As they sift through what they call their own evidence, the family spoke with FOX45 about White’s last time seen alive.
White stopped by Bache’s home on the 14th of April, which was captured on Ring camera.
After that, Dawn was seen outside her mother’s house, which was captured by her dash cam inside her SUV.
The last known sighting of White was captured on her dash cam just after 4 p.m. on April 14, as she pulled into her driveway.
“And that’s the last time I seen her alive,” Bache said.
Chilling words from White herself in the Ring video suggest she was planning to leave her boyfriend.
“When I say I’m done with him. Look at me, I’m done,” White said.
Baltimore police previously confirmed two domestic violence incidents reported in March.
However, on Saturday, FOX45 learned of an assault at White’s address on April 9, 10 days before her body was found.
Records also show officers responded to White’s home on April 17 for a well-being check. The responding officer in that instance noted finding an open door.
The next day, the family reported White missing, and the following day her body was found.
While police have not classified the case as a homicide or confirmed if domestic violence played a role, the family remains unconvinced.
“I don’t know how she lives like that. And he did, he beat her,” Bache said.
As they await answers from the police, the family is clear about their desire for justice and to find who is responsible for White’s death.
Baltimore police have not listed White’s boyfriend as a person of interest or a suspect, despite the warrant for assault.
The investigation into White’s death continues as authorities await the medical examiner’s determination of the cause of death.
