Frazier Knocks Out Two

July 16, 2023 by Orioles Hangout

The Baltimore Orioles started the post All-Star Game half of the season exactly the way they ended the pre All-Star Game half, with a win. Friday’s 5-2 win over the Miami Marlins was the team’s sixth win in a row as well as an indication that the All-Star break may not have halted the Orioles momentum.

Adam Frazier had a homerun derby of his own, hitting homeruns in both the fourth (382 ft. to right-center) and the eighth innings (396 ft.to right) to lead the offense. Frazier finished the night 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 4 RBI as well as showing his moves when he deftly avoided the Gatorade bath during his post-game interview with MASN.

Cedric Mullins preceded Frazier’s fourth inning homerun with one of his own to lead off the inning. Mullins went 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored, 1 RBI and a stolen base.

Ryan O’Hearn, the bringer of the Gatorade rain, went 2 for 2 with a double and a walk. Austin Hays went 1 for 4 with a double and 1 run scored. Adley Rutschman and Anthony Santander each went 1 for 4.

Dean Kremer (10-4), the first Orioles pitcher to reach double-digits in wins, is doing his best Samson imitation. Kremer gave the team a ninth quality start by pitching 6.0 innings where he allowed 1 run on 2 hits while walking 2, striking out 8 and hitting 1 batter. He threw 90 pitches (67 strikes) in the win.

Kremer’s outing allowed the bullpen to slot exactly as needed. Bryan Baker (1.0 IP, 1 H) pitched the seventh inning, Yennier Cano (1.0 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 1 K, 1 HR) the eighth and Felix Bautista (1.0 IP, 2 K) closed out the ninth for his 24th save of the season.
