It’s Friday night and Dean Kremer is on the mound
Think of how bad the Orioles have been this year. So much losing, so much frustration. It’s been tough to watch at times. Now imagine that the Orioles had won 19 fewer games at this point. That’s where the Colorado Rockies are right now. It’s really bad.
That’s not to say the Orioles are definitely going to win tonight. Any team can win on any given night, and the Orioles have done plenty of blundering this year. But if you’re looking for a weekend where they might play some winning baseball, maybe this is it.
If they’re going to win tonight, they’ll need Dean Kremer to be Good Dean. In three of his last four starts, Kremer pitched at least seven innings and allowed 0 or 1 run. The fourth game wasn’t as good. With a good start tonight, Kremer could get that ERA below 4.00 for the first time all season. That would be a pleasant sight for sure. For all the trades that could be coming for the Orioles in the next few days, Kremer isn’t going anywhere. He isn’t a free agent until 2028.
Rockies starter Kyle Freeland has an ERA of 5.19, which seems good for the Orioles. He also is a lefty, which is not. We’ll see how that turns out.
The Rockies are without one of their main offensive pieces tonight as third baseman Ryan McMahon was traded to the Yankees earlier today.
