Aberdeen Ironbirds pitcher Kyle Gibson experienced some tightness in his back after his start for the Single-A team this past Sunday. Gibson pitched 5 Innings allowing only one earned run, striking out 5 and registering the win.
Gibson, who many speculated would be returning to the Orioles’ rotation soon, has posted a 1-1 season in the minors this year with a 3.75 ERA in 12 innings. The most recent issue with back tightness could have affected the Orioles’ decision to bring up Brandon Young for Friday’s start against the Tigers instead of Gibson. There is still a good chance Gibson will join the Orioles’ rotation next week.
