Question: Would you see that any general manager the O’s get will amount to a junior general manager position working under Elias? Would Elias not strongly advise this person? From: Timothy Morris
Answer: Timothy, many teams in baseball have general managers and presidents of baseball operations. I don’t know how the responsibilities will be divided, but there are so many areas to be overseen: the draft, the minor leagues, acquiring players, free agent signings and working with the medical staff.
There will be plenty for this individual to do and, of course, Elias will strongly advise them as I’m sure is done everywhere else there’s a president of baseball ops/gm divide.
Question: It always seems that after a team scores 12-plus runs in a game, they end up scoring less than two runs the next game. Why is that? Are they exhausted? It seems to me that they would be in a good hitting groove. From: Leo Resop
Answer: Leo, there’s an old cliché in baseball that momentum is the next day’s starting pitcher. If a team scores 12 runs, and then they’re facing a really good starting pitcher the next game, that pitcher has the advantage.
There really isn’t much carryover in baseball, and as you’ve certainly figured out, it’s unpredictable.
