Kjerstad’s Triple Key In Fifth Win

June 6, 2025 by Orioles Hangout

The Baltimore Orioles defeated the Seattle Mariners 3-2 on Wednesday night. The wim not only extended the team’s winning streak to five games, it also allowed the Orioles to put some distance between themselves and the MLB basemant. Five teams now have a worse record than Baltimore, albeit, three are so by mere percentage points.

Adley Rutschman (1 for 4, HR, R, RBI) hit his sixth homerun of the season in the sixth inning, tying the contest at one a piece. The homerun was Rutschman’s first since May 21st. The tie was temporary, however, as Seattle countered with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning, retaking the lead at 2-1.

The Orioles put a runner on base with one out in the seventh inning via a Ramon Urias (0 for 2, R, 2 BB) walk. Coby Mayo (0 for 2, R, BB) walked with two outs, putting runners on first and second before Heston Kjerstad (1 for 3, 3B, 2 RBI) tripled to the right field corner, allowing both runners to score.

Povich threw 86 pitches (54 strikes) and had clean innings in the second, third and fifth innings. He cave up a run in the fourth but escaped further damage by inducing an inning-ending double play. Povich left the game with a run in, one on and one out in the sixth.

Yennier Cano (0.2 IP, K), Seranthony Dominguez (1.0 IP, 2 K) and Gregory Soto (1.0 IP, BB, 3 K) combined to shut down the Mariners.

Felix Bautista allowed a hit and a walk in the ninth, earning his 11th save. Cano got credit for the win and now is 1-4 on the season.
