Saturday’s game at Minute Maid Park was the location for another strong performance by an Orioles starter as Baltimore defeated the Astros 3-1. For the second game in a row Houston was limited to just 4 hits by the Orioles pitching staff. This time it was Dean Kremer (6-4) who pitched a strong game.
Kremer tossed a career-high 7.2 innings to earn his sixth victory of the season. He needed 96 pitches (62 strikes) to do so and allowed 1 run on 4 hits with 3 strikeouts.
Felix Bautista topped off Kremer’s effort with his 10th save by striking out 3 in 1.1 innings of relief.
Adley Rutschman went 1 for 3 with a double, 1 run scored and a walk. That double, with one out, started the entirety of the Orioles scoring. Anthony Santander (1 for 3, 1 run scored, 2 RBI, 1 BB) followed up Rutschman’s double with his 23rd homerun of the season, a 394 ft. shot into the upper level of right field. Ryan Mountcastle (0 for 4) lined out for the second out and then Austin Hays (2 for 4, 1 run scored, 1 RBI) blasted his 15th homerun of the year 397 ft. into the left field train track.
Cedric Mullins went 1 for 4 with a stolen base.
Rougned Odor went 0 for 3 with a walk and a stolen base.
