A weekend of events celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s impact and legacy wraps up on Monday, Jan. 19, with activities including a day of service, museum exhibits, a symphony concert and a peace walk. Here’s a look at what’s happening.
13th Annual Peace Walk: Join the St. Bernadine Catholic Church and St. Peter Claver for the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. & Rev. Msgr. Edward Michael Miller Peace Walk. The annual event will see community leaders and residents gather for prayer in the name of Martin Luther King Jr. at noon.
Pulitzer Prizer winner Taylor Branch, who chronicled the life of King, will be the guest speaker. A celebration and walk will follow the prayer service, where participants will stop and pray at sites of crime and violence.
The celebration and walk will be led by William E. Lori, Archbishop of Baltimore, and Monsignor Richard J. Bozzelli, pastor of St. Bernardine Catholic Church.

MLK Dare to Dream Day: The American Visionary Art Museum is hosting the Dare to Dream Day on MLK, Jr. day, providing free fun for residents with a Peace Birds Art Workshop, a performance from the Divine Anointing Choir, a reading workshop and food trucks.

King Day 2026: The Reginald F. Lewis Museum will celebrate King Day 2026 with film screenings, dance performances by Baltimore Dance Tech and Company Z, choral performances by ConneXions, and a number of family activities. The day’s programs will be inspired by Kid Zone, the museum’s newest interactive permanent exhibit solely dedicated to children and families.
The programs are meant to help children and families see events through the eyes of youth activists from the Civil Rights Movement to present day social movements.

Harbor High Day of Service: There will be a Day of Service in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day at Thread and Digital Harbor High. All volunteers will be improving the school bathrooms with paint, decals and restocking hygiene and reproductive materials.

African American Railroading Legacy Tour: Learn about the history of Black people and the railroad, including B&O Railroad’s connection to the Underground Railroad and the Civil Rights Movement, at this public tour of the B&O Museum.

Time: 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Howard County MLK Jr. Day of Service: Make a difference in Howard County by participating in community service opportunities, projects and educational opportunities on MLK, Jr. Day, with opportunities to create cancer care kits, bring in donations and crafting cards for those in need.
Location: Harriet Tubman Cultural Center, 8045 Harriet Tubman Lane, Columbia
Time: 1 p.m.-4 p.m.
Symphony in the City: People can celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. Led by Music Director Jonathon Heyward, and featuring Morgan State University Choir this free Symphony in the City concert honors Dr. King’s vision and impact through music.
For those who want to come early, there will be some pre-show activities including live poetry, a step show, a selfie station and an interactive “Dream Wall” in the Meyerhoff lobby.
Advanced reservations are sold out, but symphony officials say they anticipate being able to accommodate a limited number of walk-up guests. Those walk-ups will be asked to wait until 6:45 p.m. to be seated in any open seats or standing room.
