Trevor Rogers looks to dominate the Rangers for a second straight start as the O’s begin a three-game series in Arlington.
Get excited, Orioles fans: it’s Trevor Rogers day.
There was a time when such a statement would be dripping in sarcasm. But I for one am legitimately intrigued to see what Rogers has in store for an encore against the Rangers, the team he overpowered last week at Camden Yards for eight shutout innings. It was the best start by an Oriole this year — heck, maybe the best in several years — and it came from a guy who’d been written off by many O’s fans as a wasted acquisition who cost the team two useful young players.
A Rogers renaissance would not only go a long way toward justifying that trade but would also put the O’s in a better position for 2026, when many of their current starters will be free agents and they’ll need guys like Rogers to fill out the rotation. So here’s hoping for another strong outing from the lefty tonight, and ideally for the rest of the season.
Rogers will face the same mound opponent as last week, Corbin, whom the Birds tagged for five runs. The O’s are running back exactly the same lineup they had in that game, because why not?
