BALTIMORE—The Orioles made another deal involving a key bullpen piece on Tuesday, trading right-hander Seranthony Domínguez and cash considerations to the Toronto Blue Jays for pitching prospect Juaron Watts-Brown.
Domínguez, 30, was 2-3 with two saves and a 3.24 ERA in 43 games for the Orioles, and must only travel a short distance between clubhouses to report to the Blue Jays for Game 2 of Tuesday’s split doubleheader.
They dealt right-hander Bryan Baker to Tampa Bay on July 9th, and left-hander Gregory Soto to the New York Mets last Friday.
Watts-Brown, 23, was Toronto’s third-round draft pick in 2023 and is their 10th-ranked prospect, according to MLB.com. He’s 2-3 with a 3.54 ERA in 19 starts for High-A Vancouver and Double-A New Hampshire.
The Orioles will have to add another relief arm for Game 2. They won Game 1, 16-4.
Note: Outfielder/designated hitter Heston Kjerstad is being rested at Triple-A Norfolk. He’s been trying to play through fatigue, and it hasn’t improved. The Orioles will revisit the plan for him in a week or so.
