None of the Orioles affiliates won, but the organization did feature some solid pitching performances.
Triple-A: Norfolk Tides vs. Memphis Redbirds (Cardinals) – PPD/Wet Grounds
This game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Friday, April 25th.
Double-A: Altoona Curve (Pirates) 3, Chesapeake Baysox 2
Trevor Rogers’ rehab is one that Orioles fans are suddenly very interested in. Rogers was bad after coming over from the Marlins in a midseason trade a season ago, and expectations for him in 2025 were relatively low. But at the moment, the Orioles could use anyone with a pulse and a major league fastball to put on the mound. Rogers should meet that brief.
Rogers made his first rehab appearance in this one. Over three innings he allowed two runs on four hits, a walk, and three strikeouts. Both of the runs came in on the second hitter of a day, a two-run homer. From that point on, Rogers was effective.
Braxton Bragg stole the attention with his Double-A debut. The 24-year-old has turned some heads after opening the season with 16.1 innings without an earned run in Aberdeen. He began his Chesapeake career with 4.1 scoreless frames and eight strikeouts. Maybe the Orioles have something on their hands here? Peter Van Loon took the loss, allowing a run over two-thirds of an inning. Yaqui Rivera tossed a scoreless ninth inning to keep things close.
Silas Ardoin was responsible for both Chesapeake runs, smacking a seventh inning home run to bring home Creed Willems, who had singled ahead of him. Ardoin had two hits on the day and two walks. Frederick Bencosme added a double. Anthony Servideo stole his third base of the season.
High-A: Wilmington Blue Rocks (Nationals), Aberdeen IronBirds 2 – Final/10
Michael Forret continued his impressive start to the season. Over five innings he gave up just one run on four hits, no walks, and seven strikeouts. His season ERA is now 0.92 over 19.2 innings. Jared Beck coughed up one run in his lone inning of work. Zane Barnhart tossed two scoreless innings and struck out two. Dominic Freeberger took the hard luck loss. Over 1.2 innings of relief he struck out four and only allowed the extra innings ghost runner to score.
It was a bad offensive bad for Aberdeen. They collected six hits, all singles, and one walk, while striking out 11 times. Angel Tejada was the only one with multiple hits. Vance Honeycutt went 1-for-4 with a single and a strikeout. Griff O’Ferrall took an 0-for-4.
Low-A: Augusta GreenJackets (Braves) 6, Delmarva Shorebirds 2
The pitching side of things was a mixed bag for Delmarva. Starter Chase Allsup had a tough outing, allowing six runs (five earned) over three runs. But he was followed by six shutout innings from the bullpen. Simon Leandro tossed a scoreless fourth inning, and then Eccel Correa gave them five clean innings, striking out four in the process.
The Shorebirds lineup racked up 17 strikeouts in this limp performance. They also had nine hits, but only one extra-base knock, a Raylin Ramos double. Ramos had three hits in total, scored a run, and drove in a run. Braylin Tavera reached based three times from the leadoff spot. But overall, it was a tough night, illustrated well by their 1-for-13 line with runners in scoring position.
