The only winners on the farm last night were the Delmarva Shorebirds

Triple-A: Nashville Sounds (MIL) 5, Norfolk Tides 2

The Tides had just three hits in the game and Daniel Johnson knocked in both runs. He hit a sac fly and had an RBI single. The other two hits in the game came from Billy Cook and Kyle Stowers. Jackson Holliday (CC prospect #1) reached base once with a walk. Coby Mayo (#3) had a rare bad day. Not only did he go hitless but he struck out four times. As a team, the Tides struck out a whopping 18 times.

Starting pitcher Garrett Stallings gave up two runs (one earned) in 3.1 innings and relief pitcher Dillon Tate, who I expect we’ll see back in Baltimore soon, gave up two runs in the seventh inning.

Box Score

Double-A: Erie SeaWolves (DET) 8, Bowie Baysox 4

Seth Johnson (#11) did not have a good night. He pitched into the fourth and had traffic on the bases in every inning. He gave up a leadoff home run and ultimately gave up three runs on four hits and two walks. He threw 63 pitches, 34 for strikes. Relief pitcher Carlos Tavera was responsible for the other five runs. He walked six batters in 3.1 innings.

Bowie got on the board in the third with Anthony Servideo’s third home run of the year, a solo shot. Servideo also doubled in a run in the ninth inning. He felt a triple short of the cycle in the game. Samuel Basallo (#2) singled twice in the game and picked up an RBI in the bottom of the ninth. Jud Fabian (#14) was 0-for-5; Dylan Beavers (#8) did not play.

Box Score

High-A: Brooklyn Cyclones (NYM) 4, Aberdeen IronBirds 0

Through four innings, Jackson Baumeister allowed just a single and two walks and didn’t have more than one baserunner in an inning. In the fifth, though, things went south fast. Baumester’s third walk, an error, and a single loaded the bases. A HBP knocked in the first run. Baumeister was lifted from the game then, but relief pitcher Bradley Brehmer allowed all three inherited runners to score.

The offense had just five hits and could never put together a rally. Elio Prado had the only multi-hit game in the lineup, including a double. Creed Willems went 1-for-4.

Box Score

Low-A: Delmarva Shorebirds 3, Fayetteville Woodpeckers (HOU) 1

Starting pitcher Nestor German had a great night. He struck out eight batters in 4.2 innings. He allowed just one hit and did not walk a batter. His final line included one unearned run but it was a batter who reached on an error in the fifth inning and scored after he left the game.

The offense scored three runs on just three hits, aided by two errors from the other team. Thomas Sosa (#27) reached on an error in the first, stole a base, and scored on a single from Aron Estrada. Sosa walked and stole another base in the third inning and came in to score another run.

Box Score

Today’s Schedule:

  • Norfolk @ Nashville, 3:05. Starter: Bruce Zimmermann
  • Bowie vs Erie, 1:05. Starter: Alex Pham
  • Aberdeen @ Brooklyn, 2:00. Starter: Levi Wells
  • Delmarva vs Fayetteville, 2:05. Starter: Trey Gibson
