The O’s affiliates did a whole of lot of winning and hit a bunch of home runs on Wednesday.

Triple-A: Norfolk Tides 5, Memphis Redbirds (Cardinals) 4

Heston Kjerstad remained hot at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a double. Jackson Holliday was hitless, but he walked three times and scored twice. But it was Hudson Haskin that led the way with three hits, including a double and a home run, and three RBI. Billy Cook singled once and walked twice.

On The Verge #BabyBird of the day for 6/12:

Norfolk used only two pitchers in this game. Justin Armbruester started and went five solid innings in which he allowed just one earned run and struck out three, but ultimately took a no decision. Carlos Tavera tossed the final four frames, allowing two earned runs on four hits, three walks, and a strikeout, to nab the win.

Double-A: Harrisburg Senators (Nationals) 4, Bowie Baysox 0

It was a brutal day on offense for the Baysox. They managed only four hits and a walk while striking out 12 times. As a team they went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position. Samuel Basallo, Dylan Beavers, Matthew Etzel, and Collin Burns had one single each. Basallo and Etzel both stole a base as well.

Things were better on the bump. Cameron Weston struck out six over 4.1 innings, but did give up three runs on three hits, a home run, and a walk. Ryan Watson coughed up one run over 1.2 innings while striking out three. And both Nick Richmond and Houston Roth pitched one shutout inning apiece.

High-A: Aberdeen IronBirds 8, Hickory Crawdads (Rangers) 2

Aberdeen’s bats did all sorts of damage here. Enrique Bradfield Jr. hit the first home run of his professional career and drove in another run with a sacrifice fly later in the game. Four different IronBirds stole a total of eight bases. Tavian Josenberger swiped three, Elio Prado took two, Douglas Hodo III also snagged a paid, and Jalen Vasquez had to settle for just one. Vazquez also hit a triple. Creed Willems was 1-for-4 with a double.

Edgar Portes turned in a fine start on the mound. Over four innings he allowed two runs and struck out seven. From there, the bullpen was tremendous in support. Logan Rinehart, Cody Scroggins, Luis Sánchez, and Kyle Virbitsky combined to tossed five scoreless innings to wrap up the game. Scroggins took the win, Sánchez was the only reliever to complete multiple innings, and Virbitsky recorded all three of his outs via the strikeout.

Low-A: Delmarva Shorebirds 5, Kannapolis Cannon Ballers (White Sox) 2

Jake Cunningham led the Delmarva offense with three hits, one of which was a double, two stolen bases, a walk, and a run scored. Aron Estrada added two hits, including his fifth home run of the season. Reed Trimble singled, stole a base, and stole a base. Leandro Arias added a pair of singles and drove in a run.

Aron Estrada continues to showcase some serious power. His 5th of the year.

It was a group effort on the mound for the Shorebirds. They used four arms and none of them three more than three innings. Daniel Lloyd, who is on a rehab assignment, started and tossed three scoreless frames. Cooper Chandler, also rehabbing, gave up a run in his lone inning, but also struck out two. Juan Rojas earned the win with three scoreless innings and three strikeouts. Eddy Alberto got his first save of the season with two innings of work in which he allowed a run on one hit, a walk, and two strikeouts.
