Fernando Peguero hit a three-run homer to win the game for Norfolk in the 10th.
Triple-A: Norfolk Tides 8, Nashville Sounds (Brewers) 7 F/10
Norfolk trailed by three in the eighth inning before evening up the score. Jeremiah Jackson drove in Samuel Basallo to bring the Tides within two, and Jordyn Adams tied the game with a two-run triple.
After a scoreless ninth, Houston Roth allowed a pair of runs in the top of the 10th. Facing another deficit, Norfolk battled all the way back once again. Fernando Peguero launched a walk-off, three-run home run to secure an 8-7 victory for the Tides.
The blast marked Peguero’s only hit in five trips. Jackson finished 3-for-5 on the day, and Basallo went 2-for-4 with two runs scored. A rehabbing Gary Sánchez went hitless in two trips before being removed for a pinch hitter. Tyler O’Neill did not play in the game.
Trevor Rogers allowed three runs (two earned) over four innings. Rogers allowed a pair of runs after an error in the first, and he surrendered a solo homer to Bobby Dalbec in the third.
Double-A: Harrisburg Senators (Nationals) 4, Chesapeake Baysox 3 F/10
While Norfolk celebrated an extra-inning victory, Chesapeake was not as fortunate. The Senators secured a one-run advantage after a ground ball and a sacrifice fly, and the Baysox went quietly in the bottom of the tenth.
Chesapeake starter Ryan Long allowed three earned runs (two earned) over five innings. He allowed three hits, struck out four, and surrendered a solo homer. Robinson Martínez and Peter Van Loon both tossed two innings of scoreless relief.
Adam Retzbach got the scoring started with a solo homer in the first. The Baysox trailed 3-1 in the sixth inning before Noelberth Romero tied the game with a two-run home run. Romero accounted for two of Chesapeake’s six hits.
High-A: Aberdeen IronBirds 4, Jersey Shore BlueClaws (Phillies) 1
Sebastian Gongora, and 11th-round pick from 2024, turned in a magnificent start for Aberdeen. Gongora allowed only one hit and one walk over 5.1 scoreless innings. The Louisville product struck out five and threw 49 of 68 pitches for strikes.
Trent Turzenski tossed two hitless frames, and Dominic Freeberger recorded a four-out save.
Cole Urman got the IronBirds on the scoreboard with an RBI-triple in the second. Vance Honeycutt doubled the lead with an RBI-double in the fifth, and Aron Estrada added the final two runs with a ground-rule double in the sixth.
Honeycutt reached base four times with a single, double and two walks. Austin Overn finished 1-for-4 with a walk.
Low-A: Salem Red Sox 3, Delmarva Shorebirds 2
Kevin Guerrero trimmed the lead to one with an RBI single in the eighth, but the Shorebirds fizzled out there. The knock marked Delmarva’s second hit of the day. Elis Cuevas recorded the only other base hit. For what it’s worth, the Shorebirds did take eight walks.
Chipper Menard took the loss after allowing two runs (one earned) in two innings. Yeiber Cartaya shined with five innings of one-run ball.
