A win, two losses, and a rainout

Triple-A: Norfolk Tides vs Nashville Sounds (MIL) – Canceled

Last night’s game was rained out and will not be made up.

Double-A: Harrisburg Senators (WAS) 3, Chesapeake Baysox 2 – F/11

The Baysox took a 1-0 lead in the fourth on a home run by Max Wagner, a lead that held until the seventh when relief pitcher Keagan Gillies gave up a home run of his own. The game went into extra innings with a 1-1 score. Defense failed the Baysox in the 11th inning. The Manfred Man scored on an error by Silas Ardoin. Then the batter who reached on the error came in to score when pitcher Daniel Lloyd gave up a double.

Before all that, starting pitcher Trey Gibson had a nice night. He pitched 5.2 shutout innings with just one hit and one walk allowed. He was pulled in the sixth inning with two outs after Max Wagner made two errors to allow base runners. Good thing he hit that homer to make up for it. He also had a double, the only Baysock with multiple hits. Enrique Bradfield singled and walked.

Box Score

High-A: Jersey Shore BlueClaws (PHI) 5, Aberdeen IronBirds 4

The IronBirds came back twice in this game, but fell one comeback short. After scoring one run on a balk in the second inning, they scored two on a Ryan Stafford double and another on a triple from Aron Estrada. Estrada also doubled in the game. Leandro Arias had a two-hit game with a double. Griff O’Ferrall went 0-for-5 as the leadoff batter.

A rehabbing Brandon Young started and pitched 3.1 innings with six hits and a walk. He allowed two runs. Luis De León pitched the final four innings and allowed three runs on four hits and three walks.

Box Score

Low-A: Delmarva Shorebirds 9, Salem Red Sox 6

The Shorebirds scored nine times with 14 hits and six walks, led by leadoff batter Fernando Peguero’s four-hit day. Peguero took his table setting duty seriously and scored three runs. Raylin Ramos, Elis Cuevas, Braylin Tavera, and Luis Almeyda all had two-hit games. Cuevas hit his second home run of the year. Catcher Yasmil Bucce reached base three times with a single and two walks.

Evan Yates started and allowed three runs (two earned) in 5.2 innings. He had a fair amount of traffic on the bases with six hits and two walks, not to mention three errors by defense. Relief pitchers Deivy Cruz and Luis Beltrán turned the game into a reasonably close contest with three runs in their combined 3.1 innings.
