The farm teams split with wins by Norfolk and Delmarva and losses from Bowie and Aberdeen
Triple-A: Norfolk Tides 6. Memphis Red Birds (STL) 2
The Tides wasted no time jumping ahead in this one. Connor Norby singled in the first and rode home on Billy Cook’s sixth Triple-A homer of the year. The dinger was Cook’s first of three hits on the day; he fell a double short of the cycle.
Blake Hunt and Daniel Johnson made the most of Cook’s success ahead of them. Blake knocked in Cook after his single and Johnson after his triple. Heston Kjerstad capped off the scoring in the 7th inning with his 15th home run. His 53 RBI are the most in the International League.
Julio Teheran made his second start since joining the Tides and this one went much better than the first. In six innings, Teheran allowed just two runs in six innings. Both runs came in the same inning when Teheran allowed a single and walked two to load the bases. One run scored on a ground out and the other on a single. Other than that inning he was solid.

Double-A: Harrisburg Senators (WAS) 5, Bowie Baysox 4 – F/10
The Baysox scored four runs in the first three innings then allowed the Senators to come back to walk off in the bottom of the 10th inning. Dylan Beavers had a fine night from the top of the order. In the first inning, he doubled and came in to score on Jud Fabian’s home run. In the second, he cut out the middle man and hit a home run himself. He also walked twice.
Seth Johnson started for the Baysox and gave up two hits and three walks over four innings. He was replaced by Dan Hammer, who had a rough day. Hammer gave up three runs in 1.1 innings pitched but the loss went to Houston Roth who had to deal with the ghost runner on second. The unearned run scored on a single, giving the Senators the walk-off win.
Samuel Basallo went 0-for-4 in the game and was removed in the 10th inning due to a right ankle contusion.
In today’s game, Dean Kremer will make a rehab start on his way back to the Orioles rotation.
High-A: Hickory Crawdads (TEX) 4, Aberdeen IronBirds 3
This was a back-and-forth game that unfortunately ended with the Crawdads on top. Number nine hitter Douglas Hodo set the table for the top of the lineup twice. He doubled in the third inning and scored on a single from Enrique Bradfield. And he walked in the fifth and came home on a double from the rehabbing Coby Mayo. Both Bradfield and Mayo were 1-for-4.
The IronBirds scored their other run on a balk with Carter Young on third base. Mac Horvath and Creed Willems both went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts.
Levi Wells started for the IronBirds and gave up three runs in 3.2 innings, though just one was earned. He allowed a two-run homer in the third after a runner reached on an error by Hodo and later he walked a batter who came around to score. Graham Firoved gave up the game-losing run in the seventh.
Low-A: Delmarva Shorebirds 7, Kannapolis Cannon Ballers (CWS) 4
The Shorebirds scored four runs in the sixth inning to come back and take the win from the Cannon Ballers. They won with 11 hits although just one went for extra bases. Reed Trimble, Leandro Arias, and Anderson De Los Santos all had two-hit games from the middle of the order, with Trimble picking up a double. Leadoff batter Thomas Sosa manufactured a run with a walk and stolen base, then came home on a single from Trimble.
De Los Santos knocked in two runs on offense but made three throwing errors in the field.
Starting pitcher Riley Cooper gave up two runs in three innings. He walked three and struck out two. Five relievers combined to allow no more earned runs, though Eccel Correa gave up two unearned runs on a single that came after errors on back-to-back plays by Maikol Hernández. That’s Low-A for ya.
