The final scores were a bit of a bummer, but Connor Norby and Daniel Johnson provided highlights with the Tides.

Triple-A: Lehigh Valley IronPigs (Phillies) 9, Norfolk Tides 7

The Tides led 7-2 before allowing two runs in the sixth, three runs in the seventh, and two more in the eighth inning. A throwing error and a pair of walks hurt Morgan McSweeney in the seventh, and Luis González allowed the go-ahead run on a solo shot in the eighth inning.

Brandon Young started and limited Lehigh Valley to two runs over 5.1 innings. Young surrendered seven hits, struck out six and walked one.

Daniel Johnson got Norfolk on the board with a solo homer in the first, and Anthony Servideo doubled the lead with a single that scored Billy Cook. Johnson added an RBI-double in the fifth, and Connor Norby extended the lead to five with his 10th homer of the season.

Noelberth Romero and Donta’ Williams combined to go 5-for-8 from the two bottom spots in the order.

Double-A: Altoona Curve (Pirates) 10, Bowie Baysox 8 F/12

Bowie had the winning run at third with only one out in the bottom of the eleventh, but Altoona successfully implemented a five-man infield. Frederick Bencosme lined a ball to a perfectly positioned second baseman, and Collin Burns was immediately doubled off to the end the inning.

Dylan Heid allowed three runs in the top of the 12th, and the Baysox failed to battle back.

Jud Fabian provided Bowie a four-run lead with a double in the fifth, but the Baysox gave four back over the next three frames. Kyle Brnovich limited the Curve to one run over 4.2 innings, but the bullpen failed to bring it home.

Fabian finished 2-for-3 with three walks, and John Rhodes tallied a pair of hits in five trips. Samuel Basallo finished 1-for-6, and Dylan Beavers went hitless in five trips.

High-A: Wilmington Blue Rocks (Nationals) 4, Aberdeen IronBirds 2

Jackson Baumeister did not allow a hit in the first four innings, but Wilmington finally broke through in the fifth. Baumeister walked the leadoff batter and allowed allowed a single to left field. The Blue Rocks bunted both runners into scoring position before Aberdeen pulled Baumeister.

Luis Sánchez replaced Baumeister and allowed a single and a sacrifice fly. Baumeister finished the day with 1 hit, 2 earned runs, 2 walks and 3 strikeouts over 4.1 innings. Wander Arias allowed two more runs in the sixth to provide Wilmington a four-run advantage.

Carter Young singled in the seventh, stole second, and scored Aberdeen’s first run of the game on a Maxwell Costes’ single. Reed Trimble drove in the other run with a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning.

Mac Horvath recorded Aberdeen’s only extra-base hit with a double in the fourth. Four other players picked up a single for the IronBirds.

Low-A: Delmarva Shorebirds 4, Fayetteville Woodpeckers (Astros) 2

The Woodpeckers held a one-run lead before Delmarva struck for three runs in the eighth inning. Thomas Sosa evened the score with a double to right, and Anderson De Los Santos secured the lead with a single to center. Aneudis Mordán walked with the bases loaded for the fourth run of the game.
