Five Aberdeen starters pitched a combined shutout, and Delmarva’s Blake Money had a good day.
Triple-A: Norfolk Tides 7, Durham Bulls (TBR) 2
Norfolk built up a 3-0 lead on a David Bañuelos two-run single and a Livan Soto double and never looked back. Tucker Davidson pitched a nice 5.2 innings, giving up just two runs on four hits, one a home run.
The Tides put up a balanced approach, with ten hits and five walks. Everyone reached at least once. A pair of doubles by Hudson Haskin and Nick Maton scored runs four and five, and J.D. Davis hit a two-run home run. Terrin Vavra went 1-for-4 with a walk. Niko Goodrum singled and walked.
Bruce Zimmermann, Corbin Martin and Kade Strowd held the line with a scoreless inning each.
Double-A: Harrisburg Senators 5, Bowie Baysox 4
Three late Harrisburg runs sunk Bowie, but it was a great starter debut for Patrick Reilly. The 22-year-old righty, acquired for Billy Cook from the Pirates org, threw four innings with no earned runs and four strikeouts. Ryan Long stayed in one inning too long, allowing no runs from the fifth through the seventh innings but giving up one three in the eighth. Nick Richmond retired the last four hitters with just one hit allowed.
Samuel Basallo singled home the Baysox’s first run and Dylan Beavers drove in two more with a second-inning RBI single. Catcher Silas Ardoin had two hits and center fielder Donta’ Williams hit three. John Rhodes had a double and Jud Fabian went 0-for-1 as a pinch hitter.
High-A: Aberdeen IronBirds 4, Hickory Crawdads (TEX) 0
Five Aberdeen pitchers combined for a four-hit shutout and struck out eleven, although with nine walks… there were a few too many walks. Simon Portes tossed four and struck out six, with two hits and three walks allowed. Yaqui Rivera contributed two innings, walking two more. Graham Firoved walked two in one inning, and Hayden Nierman and Zane Barnhart walked one each in one inning apiece.
The IronBirds struck out fourteen times but timed their hits well. Tavian Josenberger and Reed Trimble, who walked and doubled, scored Aberdeen’s first two runs on a Creed Willems double. Anderson de los Santos homered for the third run. Josenberger basically manufactured the IronBirds’ fourth when he singled, stole second, stole third, and came home on a Douglas Hodo single.
Low-A: Salem Red Sox 2, Delmarva Shorebirds 1
Both teams put up zeroes until the fifth inning, when Delmarva’s Blake Money got tired or unlucky, giving up two runs (both unearned) on three singles and a fielding error by shortstop Leandro Arias. Still a strong outing for Money, who threw five innings and allowed four hits, no earned runs and struck out four with no walks. Juan Rojas pitched three shutout innings after him, walking three and striking out two.
The offense put up seven hits but struck out ten times, with just the one run. Edwin Amparo went 2-for-3 and scored on an Arias sac fly. Braylin Tavera went 2-for-4, and catcher Aneudis Mordán went 3-for-4 and doubled twice.
