
Grayson Rodriguez pitched three scoreless innings, and four Baysox players went deep against Harrisburg.
Triple-A: Norfolk Tides 6, Durham Bulls (Rays) 5
Norfolk used a five run sixth inning to pick up the one-run win. Tyler Nevin launched a three-run homer, and J.C. Escarra followed with a two-run shot to cap the big inning. Nevin finished 2-3 and also worked a walk.
Rylan Bannon went 2-4 from the leadoff spot, and Yusniel Diaz drove in Norfolk’s first run with a single in the second. Adley Rutschman finished 0-5 with two strikeouts.
Ofelky Peralta allowed three runs in the bottom of the first but quickly settled in. Peralta did not allow another run and struck out 9 over 4.1 innings. Zack Burdi worked a clean inning, Konner Wade allowed a run over 1.2 innings, and César Valdez tossed a scoreless frame.
Double-A: Bowie Baysox 5, Harrisburg Senators (Nationals) 3
Bowie used four solo some runs to secure a 5-3 win over the Senators. Jordan Westburg got the party started right away with a leadoff homer over the cheap seats in Harrisburg. Zach Watson followed his lead and added a solo shot of his own in the first.
Patrick Dorrian ripped his 19th home run in the fifth inning, and Andrew Daschbach went deep for the second night in a row. Tobi Welk drove in Bowie’s only other run with a ground out in the first.
Grayson Rodriguez struck out former Pirate Jordy Mercer to kick off three perfect innings. Rodriguez struck out five, did not allow a hit or walk, and threw 23 of his 34 pitches for strikes. Tim Naughton and Diogenes Almengo combined for three scoreless innings out of the bullpen. Logan Gillaspie earned the win in relief.
High-A:Wilmington Blue Rocks (Nationals) 6, Aberdeen IronBirds 5
Conner Loeprich tossed five innings of one-run ball to put the IronBirds in a good spot, but the bullpen gave it back. Aberdeen’s bullpen allowed five runs in the final three innings of the loss.
Cristopher Cespedes led Aberdeen with three hits and two RBIs. Dylan Harris went 2-4 with a triple. Adam Hall finished 0-2 but walked twice and added a sacrifice fly. Lamark Sparks singled but also struck out four times.
Low-A: Delmarva Shorebirds 6, Fredericksburg Nationals 2
Colton Cowser reached base in all four plate appearances. The first-rounder finished 2-2 with a pair of singles and two walks. Coby Mayo went 1-4, and Darell Hernaiz added a two-run home run. Donta’ Williams finished 0-3 with a walk, and Jacob Teeter was hitless in four at bats.
Peter John Van Loon, the Orioles’ 16th round pick this year, allowed just one hit in four innings. Justin Armbruester struck out three in 1.1 innings and Daniel Lloyd struck out the side in the ninth.
