The Tides and Baysox both lost, at least Coulombe looked good and the Bowie offense put up big numbers.
Triple-A: Durham Bulls (Rays) 5, Norfolk Tides 0
The highlight of this game was the Norfolk bullpen, featuring a rehabbing Danny Coulombe. Corbin Martin, Coulombe, and Colin Selby combined for three shutout innings and three strikeouts. The big league Orioles could use Coulombe and Selby by the time October rolls around, so at least that was encouraging. Unfortunately, Adrian Houser’s start had already unraveled in the fifth inning. In that single frame he coughed up all five runs.

As a team, Norfolk struck out 12 times, walked thrice, and collected four hits as they were shut out. It wasn’t great! Jud Fabian had a decent night at the plate, going 1-for-3 with a double and a walk. Blake Hunt was the lone Tides hitter with multiple hits, in his case it was two singles. Samuel Basallo went 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout.
Double-A: Erie SeaWolves (Tigers) 10, Bowie Baysox 6
The top four hitters in the Bowie lineup had big games. Enrique Bradfield Jr went 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored. Heston Kjerstad was 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored. Dylan Beavers ended up 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, and a run. And finally, Creed Willems collected three hits, including a home run, and drove in four runs. Douglas Hodo, down in the seven hole, also had three hits, two of which were doubles, and swiped a bag. All in all, it was a good offensive showing for the lineup, but it wasn’t enough to overcome a tough night on the mound.
Ryan Long started and stuck around for 3.1 innings, but not before serving up four runs on three hits, three walks, and one strikeout. Bradley Brehmer followed for the next 1.2 frames. He was charged with two unearned runs due to a fielding error by Ryan Higgins. Tyler Burch was next out of the ‘pen. He would record only two outs while giving up four runs on four hits, two walks, and two strikeouts. Dylan Heid and Jakob Hernandez were called on for the final 2.1 innings combined, and they were able to get out unscathed.
