Trevor Rogers threw his third straight quality start for Norfolk, and Jacob Webb pitched a clean inning on rehab.

Triple-A: Norfolk Tides 2, Durham Bulls (Rays) 1

The Trevor Rogers deal has not bolstered Baltimore’s rotation like the front office intended, but the Orioles still believe Rogers can contribute in the future. Rogers’ latest start provided another reason for optimism.

The lefty impressed with six scoreless innings for Norfolk. Rogers allowed four hits, struck out seven, and walked two. The outing marked his third consecutive quality start.

After this post, Trevor Rogers retired 12 straight Bulls hitters and exits as the winning pitcher of record:

Neither team scored during the first six innings, but Norfolk broke through just in time to get Rogers the win. Hudson Haskin secured the lead with a two-run double in the seventh inning. The double marked the Tides’ only extra-base hit of the night.

Samuel Basallo recorded the only multi-hit game with a pair of singles. Terrin Vavra, Jud Fabian and TT Bowens all went without a hit.

Jacob Webb delivered a clean inning in what could be his final rehab appearance before returning to the majors. Webb allowed one hit, struck out a batter, and threw 15 of 22 pitches for strikes.

Double-A: Bowie Baysox 2, Erie SeaWolves (Tigers) 1

Bowie matched Norfolk with a 2-1 victory. This one went scoreless over the first five frames before a rehabbing Heston Kjerstad broke the tie. Kjerstad plated Luis Valdez with a single, but Erie struck right back in the bottom of the sixth.

Carter Young drove in the go-ahead run with a double in the ninth. The two-bagger plated Frederick Bencosme and placed Keagan Gillies in position for the win. Young and Creed Willems both finished 2-for-4. Enrique Bradfield Jr. went 1-for-3 with a walk from the leadoff spot, and Dylan Beavers picked up a single in four trips.

Peter Van Loon tossed five scoreless frames. He struck out five, walked three, and limited Erie to two hits. Gillies turned in a pair of clean innings, and Kyle Virbitsky earned the save with a scoreless ninth.
