It was a winless day down on the farm, but that didn’t stop some impressive performances from TT Bowens and Creed Willems, among others.
Triple-A: Charlotte Knights (White Sox) 4, Norfolk Tides 3
TT Bowens was responsible for nearly all of Norfolk’s offensive production in this one. The first baseman went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run, and three RBI. Niko Goodrum and Daniel Johnson both singled and scored a run. Unfortunately, that was all of the good news. The Norfolk lineup combined for 19 strikeouts and went just 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position.
Another one! It’s a second straight day for a @bowens_tt home run!

At least there were some nuggets of inspiration on the mound. Five different pitchers appeared in this game, and some even pitched well! Tucker Davidson started and allowed two runs on two hits, three walks, and a strikeout over 1.1 innings. Bruce Zimmermann followed by serving up just one run on four hits and eight strikeouts over 3.2 frames. Nolan Hoffman tossed two scoreless innings and struck out two. Brooks Kriske coughed up a run on two walks and a strikeout in his lone inning. And Colin Selby pitched a scoreless ninth while striking out the side.
Double-A: Harrisburg Senators (Nationals) 7, Bowie Baysox 5
Dylan Beavers did what he could to prop up the Bowie offense. He collected three hits, including two home runs, scored three times, and drove in three runs. Carter Young also had a trio of hits, two of which were doubles. Creed Willems cracked his third homer as a Double-A player. Enrique Bradfield Jr. went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases and a run scored.

On the pitching side of things, one of the newer members of the organization impressed. Patrick Reilly, acquired in a prospect swap with the Pirates on July 30, delivered five scoreless innings, struck out eight, walked one, and allowed just two hits. Unfortunately, the bullpen was unable to hold up their part. Jacob Webb, in Bowie to rehab, allowed four runs on two hits and a walk while recording only one out. Nick Richmond was saddled with one run over 1.2 innings, and both Dylan Heid and Kyle Virbitsky tossed one inning each and allowed one run apiece.

High-A: Jersey Shore BlueClaws (Phillies) 6, Aberdeen IronBirds 2
Aberdeen really struggled to string hits together in this one as the lineup went 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position. Jalen Vasquez drove in their first run on a triple with Anuedis Mordán on first base. Ryan Stafford was credited with the other RBI on a sacrifice fly. Ethan Anderson had two hits and a stolen base. Other extra base hits came from Mordán (double) and Austin Overn (triple).
Daniel Lloyd took the loss on the mound. He was responsible for three runs on six hits, one walk, and three strikeouts over 3.1 innings. The next three pitchers (Zane Barnhart, Edgar Portes, and Preston Johnson) combined for 4.2 scoreless innings. Portes tossed 2.2 of those innings. Hayden Nierman struggled in ninth inning, though. He gave up three runs on four hits, two walks, and a strikeout.
Low-A: Carolina Mudcast (Brewers) 4, Delmarva Shorebirds 0
The Shorebirds couldn’t save the organization from a winless day. The lineup compiled five hits and four walks but could not scratch even one run across the plate. Braylin Tavera was the only hitter with multiple hits, both singles. Tavera, Alfredo Velásquez, Colin Tuft, and Fernando Peguero stole one base apiece.
Just two pitchers toed the rubber for Delmarva, and they both held their own. Eccel Correa allowed two runs on seven hits and two strikeouts over four innings, but took the loss. Riley Cooper followed and essentially matched the stater’s effort. Cooper also tossed four innings and gave up a pair of runs on six hits, a walk, and two strikeouts.
