Ryan O’Hearn, the starting designated hitter for the American League in the All-Star Game, was hitless in two at-bats in Tuesday night’s game. After the teams played to a 6-6 tie in nine innings, the National League won the game in a home run swing-off.
O’Hearn, the only Oriole on the AL team, was called out on strikes against San Diego’s Jason Adam to end the second inning, and with runners on first and third in the third inning, grounded back to the Mets’ David Peterson to again end the inning.
It was O’Hearn’s first All-Star Game.
