Ryan O’Hearn is the leading votegetter among American League designated hitters while Jackson Holliday is second in the balloting for AL second baseman in All-Star voting.
O’Hearn, who returns to the Orioles lineup for Monday night’s game at Tampa Bay after missing two games with a left ankle injury, has 353,029 votes, leading the New York Yankees’ Ben Rice by about 130,000 votes.
O’Hearn is hitting .310 with 10 home runs and 27 RBIs and an .893 OPS.
Holliday’s 449,093 votes trails Detroit’s Gleyber Torres by about 84,000 votes. He narrowly leads Houston’s Jose Altuve by fewer than 3,000 votes.
He’s hitting .259 with eight home runs and 27 RBIs and a .731 OPS.
No other Oriole is a serious contender in the voting. Adley Rutschman, who has played in the last two All-Star Games is seventh among catchers. Ryan Mountcastle, who would be unable to play if elected due to a strained right hamstring, is seventh in first base voting.
Gunnar Henderson, who was also on the All-Star team in 2024, is seventh in shortstop voting. Ramón Urías is ninth among third basemen and Cedric Mullins is 20th in outfielder voting. ‘
The voting period for Phase 1 continues through June 26th at noon ET. The top two votegetters will face off in voting that runs between June 30tat noon and July 2nd at noon.
