Orioles’ left-hander Cade Povich, who pitched 3 2/3 scoreless innings in Sunday’s win over the Los Angeles Angels has been placed on the 15-day injured list with left hip inflammation. Povich is 2-5 with a 5.13 ERA in 13 appearances. He had been a starter in his first 12 games until Scott Blewett worked the first 2 2/3 innings of the 11-2 win. Povich came in relief for the first time in his career.
This opens a spot for Trevor Rogers to start on Wednesday at Tampa Bay. The Orioles had left Wednesday’s starter unannounced. Rogers allowed just two hits in 6 1/3 scoreless innings in the second game of the May 24th doubleheader.
The Orioles recalled right-hander Colin Selby from Triple-A Norfolk to fill Povich’s roster spot. Selby has a 4.91 ERA in three appearances.
