Let’s hope this one goes better.
UPDATE: Never mind! Game 2 has been postponed due to rain in Boston on Friday evening. The Orioles and Red Sox will try to play two again tomorrow, a split doubleheader with games set for 1:05 and 6:35.
If you were stuck at work counting down the minutes until Memorial Day weekend, you may have had more fun than watching the end of Game 1 in Boston. The Orioles led the Sox 2-1 in the sixth inning before falling 19-5 at Fenway Park. Paul Folkemer provided the details of a winnable game that turned into a laugher.
The Orioles will look for redemption this evening. Trevor Rogers has been recalled as the 27th-man and is anticipated to play a part in one form or another. Kyle Stowers is hitting .309 with a .936 OPS in Miami. This probably will not be the last time you hear those stats today.
The Orioles had yet to announce a starting lineup for Game 2 at the time of this writing. Red Sox writer Ian Browne reported that the game will likely be delayed.
No official announcement, but the tarp is still on the field and there’s not a player from either team on the field warming up. In other words, Game 2 is not going to start on time.
