The Orioles signed right-handed reliever Rico Garcia to a 2026 major league contract on Thursday.
Garcia was 0-2 with a 2.84 ERA in 20 games. The 31-year-old was claimed off waivers on August 5th for his second stint with the Orioles. He pitched six games for the Orioles in 2022.
His most memorable outing came on August 19th at Fenway Park when he entered a game in the eighth inning after Kade Strowd left the bases loaded. Garcia struck out Jarren Duran, Trevor Story and Masataka Yoshida in a game the Orioles won, 4-3, in 11 innings.
Garcia also has pitched for Colorado, San Francisco, the Athletics, Washington and the New York Mets and Yankees in a 59-game major league career that began in 2019.
