BALTIMORE-The Orioles on Friday traded left-handed reliever Gregory Soto to the New York Mets for minor league right-handers Wellington Aracena and Cameron Foster.
Soto, who recorded his first save of the season in Thursday’s 4-3 win Cleveland, was 0-2 with a 3.96 ERA and a save in 45 games with the Orioles this season. Soto, who was acquired from Philadelphia last July 30th, struck out 44 and walked 18 in 36 1/3 innings.
Aracena is 1-1 with a 2.38 ERA in 17 games, eight starts, for Single-A St. Lucie. He’s struck out 84 and walked 35 and hasn’t allowed a home run in 64 1/3 innings. Foster is 5-2 with a 2.97 ERA and two saves in 21 games with Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Syracuse.
With Soto’s trade, the Orioles are left with just one left-hander in the bullpen, Grant Wolfram. Keegan Akin is scheduled to pitch for Triple-A Norfolk on Saturday in the next step of his rehab assignment for a left shoulder injury.
