The Baltimore Orioles took the train to New York City and, for at least a day, left the Yankees at the station. Despite two homeruns from the Yankees Aaron Judge, the Orioles won Monday night’s game 6-4.
In a game tied at 4 after five innings, Ramon Urias (3 for 4, 1 2B, 1 HR, 2 runs scored, 1 RBI) put the O’s in the lead with his sixth inning homerun. Urias had a hand in the insurance run the O’s scored in the ninth inning. His single advanced Rougned Odor (1 for 4, 1 run scored) to third, allowing him to score on a Robinson Chirinos (1 for 3, 1 2B, 1 run scored, 2 RBI) sacrifice fly.
Austin Hays went 1 for 4 with 1 run scored and 2 RBI.
Trey Mancini went 2 for 4.
Starter and winning pitcher, Jordan Lyles (3-4) allowed 4 runs, 3 earned, on 5 hits, walked 2, struck out 8 and hit a batter in 6.2 innings of work, a quality start. He also surrendered both of Judge’s homeruns (wondering if Judge takes umbrage with Yankee Stadium’s dimensions).
Felix Bautista finished the 7th inning for Lyles and pitched the 8th walking 1 and striking out 1 while Jorge Lopez walked 1 in the 9th inning to earn his fifth save of the season.
