The Baltimore Orioles scored three runs in the ninth inning on Sunday in Toronto. The team bent but did not break in the bottom of the ninth, allowing one run, to hold on for a 5-4 win over the Blue Jays.
Trailing 3-1 at the start of the eighth inning, the comeback started with a Jesus Aguilar (2 for 5, 1 Run Scored, 2 RBI) homerun, his first as an Oriole.
Singles in the ninth by pinch-hitters Kyle Stowers (1 for 1, 1 Run Scored) and Ramon Urias (1 for 1, 1 Run Scored) with a Cedric Mullins (0 for 3, 1 Run Scored, 2 BB) walk loaded the bases for Adley Rutschman (2 for 3, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 2 BB). Rutschman singled to knock in two runs and give the Orioles a 4-3 lead. An Aguilar single plated the 5th Orioles run.
Felix Bautista pitched the 9th inning and allowed 1 run on 1 hit with 2 walks and a strikeout, earning his 14th save for winning pitcher Joey Krehbiel (5-4) who pitched the 8th inning, striking out 1.
Dean Kremer made the start and allowed 2 runs on 4 hits (1 homerun) while walking 5, striking out 3 and hitting a batter over 5.2 innings.
Jorge Mateo went 1 for 3 with a double and 1 RBI.
Terrin Vavra went 1 for 3 with a run scored and a walk.
The Orioles infield turned a triple play, Mateo to Vavra to Aguilar in the third inning, halting a potential Toronto rally.
