Rogers And Holliday Bring The Heat

June 24, 2025 by Orioles Hangout

On a Monday night when the game time temperature was announced at 100 degrees, the Texas Rangers (38-41) felt the heat of the Baltimore Orioles in a 6-0 shutout loss. Limited to three hits, all singles, the Rangers were never comfortable on this night.

The heat was applied by a surprising source, starter Trevor Rogers (1-0) who far surpassed his previous two starts for the club. Rogers was solid through 8.0 innings, allowing 3 hits and striking out 4 in a 101 pitch (72 strikes) effort. The omly difficulty he faced came in the sixth when Texas hit consecutive singles with two outs. A flyout got Rogers out of that situation. He began the game with pitches in the mid 90 mph range and he was still hitting that mark as needed in the eighth inning. Rogers earned the win, his first in Baltimore, with a performance that probably exceeded the expectations of the front office when he was acquired at last year’s trade deadline.

On the other side of the ball, Jackson Holliday led the was and made a strong case for his inclusion at second base in the 2025 MLB All-Star game in Atlanta. He went 3 for 5 with 4 RBI in the game, doubling in Chadwick Tromp, who doubled in front of him, in the third for the Orioles first run. Holliday hit a three run homerun in the fifth to stake the Orioles to a 4-0 lead with Cedric Mullins and Coby Mayo scoring on the play. He singled in the eighth, finishing the game a triple shy of the cycle.

Mayo plated the Orioles’ fifth run with a bases loaded RBI groundout in the sixth when the only play for Texas was at first.

A Ramon Urias sac fly in the seventh allowed the Orioles’ final run to score.

Andrew Kittredge pitched a clean ninth to polish off this gem of a game.

Every batter in the lineup with the exception of Gunnar Henderson recorded at keast one hit in the contest and every one reached base at least once.

Ramon Laureano went 2 for 5 with a double and one run scored.
