The Orioles are hiring Philadelphia Phillies assistant hitting coach Dustin Lind to be their lead hitting coach, according to an industry source.
The 37-year-old Lind was the assistant hitting coach of the Phillies in 2024 and 2025 and before that worked with Orioles manager Craig Albernaz in San Francisco where he was the director of hitting and assistant hitting coach for the Giants from 2020-2023.
Lind, who did not play professionally, is the first coach hired since Albernaz was named manager. He began his coaching career as a minor league coach with Seattle in 2018 and coached on the Mariners’ major league staff in 2019.
He holds a doctorate in physical therapy from the University of Montana.
Lind replaces Cody Asche, who joined the Detroit Tigers as assistant hitting coach this week. The other two hitting coaches, Tommy Joseph and Sherman Johnson, have departed. Johnson will be an assistant hitting coach with the Chicago White Sox.
The futures of pitching coach Drew French, assistant pitching coach Ryan Klimek, bullpen coach Mitch Plassmeyer, third base coach Buck Britton, development coach Grant Anders, and senior advisor John Mabry have yet to be determined.
