Souvlaki has temporarily closed, according to the restaurant’s website.
However, the Greek eatery, which has locations in Hampden and Federal Hill, along with two sites in Washington and one pending in Miami, plans to reopen for pickup and delivery soon, the website says.
“Stay tuned,” the message reads.
Souvlaki’s 3,200-square-foot space at 101-03 W. 36th St. is up for lease, according to a listing on LoopNet real estate website. The owners of Souvlaki could not immediately be reached for comment.
Souvlaki serves traditional Greek appetizers, such as mezze spreads and spanakopita, along with entrees like souvlaki skewers and yeeros.
Souvlaki’s Hampden location averaged 4.5 out of 5 stars on Yelp with 406 reviews.
Kevin Stander and Jeremy Landsman purchased the Golden West restaurant building and neighboring Souvlaki at auction for $1.94 million in 2021.
“In our attempt to redefine the term ‘traditional Greek cuisine’ both aesthetically and quality-wise, we came across a dilemma: does traditional mean old?’ We then created a contemporary restaurant with recipes that maintain traditional character and exceptional quality,” the website reads.
