Last night’s loss was tough, but the Orioles can bounce back today
Happy Sunday, Camden Chatters! I hope your weekend is going well so far. If you’ve been to any O’s games this weekend, I sure hope it was Friday’s win and not last night’s rainy loss.
Tomoyuki Sugano had another fine performance yesterday, six innings with two runs. But with a lefty on the mound for the Royals, the offensive woes continued. It’s getting absurd at this point. If you want to read all the details of last night’s 4-0 loss, including Seranthony Domínguez finally giving up some home runs, check out the recap from John Beers.
If the Orioles can beat the Royals today they’ll take their second straight series, which is cool even if they can’t figure out how to win three games in a row. They do get to face a right-handed pitcher in Michael Lorenzen, but are countering with a guy who gave up four home runs in about 90 seconds last Tuesday. That’s right, Kyle Gibson is pitching again. I’m confident he won’t be as bad as last time, but that doesn’t mean I trust him to be good.
If you’re going to the game today, prepare for a bit of rain. There could be scattered showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Maybe that’ll keep some people home and make it easier to grab the Gunnar Henderson Star Wars bobblehead.
After today’s game, the Orioles have the day off on Monday as they travel to Minnesota and then Los Angeles for a six-game road trip.

Birthdays and History
Is today your birthday? Happy birthday! You have two Orioles birthday buddies. Ryan Meisinger (31), a Maryland native, pitched in 18 games for the 2018 Orioles. And Joe Borowski (54) kicked off his 12-year MLB career with six games for the Orioles in 1995.
One year ago today, the Orioles defeated the Reds, 2-1. John Means was fantastic, with 7 shutout innings and eight strikeouts. It was the first of four starts he made last season. The Orioles scored their runs on home runs from Adley Rutschman and Jorge Mateo. The win gave the team a 22-11 record.
