The Baltimore Orioles won Wednesday’s game with the New York Yankees 6-3. Youth was not wasted on the young as the Orioles #2 (#14 overall) prospect Colton Cowser made his MLB debut. Cowser put his mark on the game by going 1 for 3 with 1 run scored, 1 RBI and a walk. He also had 2 putouts in left field and was not fazed by debuting in Yankee Stadium.

Cowser’s numbers were very similar to the numbers put up by his friend, Jordan Westburg, in his MLB debut ten days prior. That night Westburg went 1 for 4 with 1 run scored, 1 RBI, 1 walk, 3 putouts and 1 assist. Against the Yankees on Wednesday, Westburg went 1 for 3 with a triple, 1 run scored, 2 RBI nad a walk.

Joining the youthful duo were Baby Birds who debuted last season. All-Star Adley Rutschman went 2 for 5 with a double and 1 run scored while Gunnar Henderson went 1 for 5 and the pair were involved in a third inning double play with Henderson doubled off first on a Rutschman line out to right; Henderson’s base running gaffe had him as far as second base when Giancarlo Stanton made the catch.
The Orioles entered the ninth with a slim 4-3 lead that was extended on Ryan O’Hearn‘s (1 for 4, 1 HR, 1 R, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 SB) two run homerun.

Cedric Mullins went 2 for 5 with 2 doubles and a run scored.
Aaron Hicks continued to be booed and went 1 for 5 with a run scored.
Starting pitcher Dean Kremer (9-4) held the Yankees in check over 7.0 innings, allowing 2 runs, 1 earned, on 4 hits (1 HR) with a walk and a career-high 10 strikeouts. Kremer earned the win with All-Star Felix Bautista (1.1 IP, 1 BB, 2 K) earning his 23rd save.
